Brindisi
Brindisi è stata la nostra casa per 5 mesi. A dire il vero non l'abbiamo vissuta come turisti ma come abitanti e le poche foto ne sono la prova.
Brindisi è una citta tranquilla pur essendo per molti il punto d'arrivo per visitare il Salento (l'aereoporto è ben connesso) e dall'aria un po' decadente: questo capoluogo si sta spopolando da decenni.
Il centro si sviluppa attorno ai tre bacini che formano un sicurissimo porto naturale ed è stato usato a tale scopo fin dall'antichità.
La bella (e gratuita!) visita al Museo Archeologico Provinciale di Brindisi aiuta in tal senso a farsi un'idea dei vari avvicendamenti storici che hanno riguardato quest'area dalla preistoria passando per la cultura Messapica, Greca, Romana...
Brindisi was our home for five months. To be honest, we didn’t experience it as tourists but as locals, and the few photos we took are proof of that.
Brindisi is a quiet town, despite being the arrival point for many visitors to Salento (the airport has good connections), and has a certain decadent flair: this city has been losing its population for decades.
The town centre is built around the three basins that form a very safe natural harbour and has been used for this purpose since ancient times.
A lovely (and free!) visit to the Provincial Archaeological Museum of Brindisi helps to give an idea of the various historical phases that have affected this area, from prehistory through the Messapian, Greek and Roman cultures...
