Dopo un paio di settimane in visita da parenti e amici per il periodo natalizio, a metà gennaio siamo tornati a bordo.
Primo punto dei tanti nella lista delle cose da fare nel nuovo anno: organizzarci con il cantiere e il meccanico per tirare in secca la barca al fine di cambiare la membrana del sail drive, una membrana in gomma fra la trasmissione S-Drive e il supporto del motore che va sostituita ogni 7 anni per impedire all'acqua di entrare dal vano motore.

Purtroppo come spesso accade mentre la barca è in cantiere, non tutto va come previsto e siamo stati costretti a prolungare di qualche giorno la permanenza di Lilith in secca e la nostra in hotel, ma abbiamo approfittato di una delle giornate più miti per fare una gita a Bologna.
Passeggiando per la città si respira l'atmosfera giovane e internazionale grazie alla presenza di una delle più importanti Università d'Italia e il ricco programma culturale. Tra un piatto di lasagne e un panino alla mortadella, abbiamo passeggiato tutta la giornata nelle tante vie e piazze con i loro portici e visitato le Sette Chiese, la Basilica di San Petronio e la Sala della Borsa, un’enorme biblioteca pubblica in cui leggere libri, riviste e giornali, ascoltare musica oppure fermarsi a sedere sulle poltrone. Questo edificio storico, una volta sede della Borsa Valori, è oggi stato trasformato infatti in una moderna biblioteca multimediale che accoglie al suo interno un vasto patrimonio di materiali bibliografici, multimediali e digitali, accessibili a tutti i cittadini e ai turisti.
Una volta tornati al nostro posto barca, abbiamo ripreso la nostra routine quotidiana di lavori di riparazione, pulizie, migliorie e acquisti per prepararci al meglio alla nostra prima vera e propria stagione di navigazione.
Dopo una bella lavata, abbiamo finalmente rimosso il vecchio nome e incollato quello nuovo a poppa.
Il progetto più complesso e impegnativo è stato senza dubbio la progettazione e installazione dell'archetto e dei pannelli solari che ci permetteranno di essere autonomi dal punto di vista energetico per caricare tutti gli apparecchi elettronici, avere sempre frigo e luci e addirittura cucinare su una piastra a induzione, risparmiando così il gas della bombola da 3 kg che non è per niente economico e nemmeno facilissimo da reperire!
L'archetto progettato da Matteo e realizzato in acciaio inox da un'azienda locale, segue perfettamente le linee della barca e i pannelli solari sono ben fissati e collegati al nuovo banco batterie precedentemente installate e all'inverter.
Tra una giornata di lavoro e l'altra siamo stati al Carnevale di Ravenna, dove oltre alla sfilata dei carri mascherati che fanno parte anche della tradizione delle nostre zone di origine, abbiamo assistito all'esibizione di un gruppo folk locale di “sciucaren”. "Sciucher" in dialetto romagnolo vuol dire "schioccare la frusta" e gli “sciucaren” maneggiano la frusta con maestria, accompagnando canzoni e balli popolari.

Per far rimettere l'albero e far installare le nuove sartie siamo andati di nuovo per poche ore in cantiere e qualche settimana dopo ci siamo ritornati per qualche giorno per far montare un attacco in coperta per poter avere un ulteriore vela a prua che ci permetterà di avere più opzioni per navigare in maniera sicura e efficiente.
Prima di lasciare la Romagna, non potevamo non visitare anche Ferrara.
Ferrara è una tipica cittadina medievale del Nord Italia: passeggiando tra le viuzze storiche e attraversando le piazze ricche di statue e chiese, ci si immerge nella sua storia e allo stesso tempo si assaporano i ritmi della quotidianità dei suoi abitanti.
Oltre ai tanti bei palazzi e scorci, ci siamo gustati anche un bel piatto di cappellacci, tipica pasta ripiena di zucca, condita con ragù di carne o burro e salvia in una trattoria locale.
In questi giorni stiamo aspettando che l'iter burocratico dell'immatricolazione faccia il suo corso e poi siamo pronti per salpare definitivamente da Marina di Ravenna per la nostra prima tappa: Pola, Croazia!

After a couple of weeks visiting family and friends for the Christmas period, we got back on board in mid-January.
First on the list of things to do in the new year: organize with the shipyard and the mechanic to lift the boat out of the water in order to change the sail drive membrane, a rubber membrane between the S-Drive transmission and the engine support that must be replaced every 7 years to prevent water from entering the engine compartment.

Unfortunately, as often happens while a boat is in the shipyard, not everything went as planned and we were forced to extend Lilith's stay on dry land and ours in the hotel by a few days, but we took advantage of one of the milder days to take a trip to Bologna.
Walking through the city you can breathe the young and international atmosphere thanks to the presence of one of the most important universities in Italy and the rich cultural program. Between a plate of lasagna and a mortadella sandwich, we strolled all day through the many streets and squares with their arcades and visited the Seven Churches, the Basilica of San Petronio and the Sala della Borsa, a huge public library where you can read books, magazines and newspapers, listen to music or just relax in a comfy armchair. This historic building, once home to the Stock Exchange, has now been transformed into a modern multimedia library that houses a vast heritage of bibliographic, multimedia and digital materials, accessible to all citizens and tourists.
Once we returned to our berth, we resumed our daily routine of repair work, cleaning, upgrades and purchases to prepare for our first real sailing season.
After a good wash, we finally removed the old name and attached the new one on the stern.
The most complex and challenging project was undoubtedly the design and installation of the solar panel arch that will allow us to be charge all electronic devices, run the fridge and lights and even cook on an induction hob even while at anchor, thus saving on gas that is neither cheap nor easy to find!
The arch designed by Matteo and made of stainless steel by a local company perfectly follows the lines of the boat and the 2 x 175W solar panels are fixed on it and connected to the new lithium battery bank previously installed and to an inverter.
Between one day of work and the other we were at the Carnival of Ravenna, where in addition to the allegorical floats parade that are also a tradition of our home towns, we witnessed the performance of a local folk group of "sciucaren". "Sciucher" in Romagna dialect means "snapping the whip" and the "sciucaren" handle the whip with mastery, accompanying popular songs and dances.

To have the mast put back and the new rigging installed, we went back to the shipyard for a few hours and a few weeks later we returned for a few days to mount an attachment on the deck to be able to have an additional sail on the bow that will allow us to have more options to sail safely and efficiently.
Before leaving Romagna, we also had to visit Ferrara.
Ferrara is a typical medieval town in Northern Italy: strolling through the historic streets and crossing the squares full of statues and churches, you can immerse yourself in its history and at the same time have a glimpse of the daily life of its inhabitants.
In addition to the many beautiful buildings and views, we also enjoyed a nice plate of cappellacci, typical pasta stuffed with pumpkin, seasoned with meat sauce or butter and sage in a local trattoria.
These days we are waiting for the bureaucratic process of registration to run its course and then we are ready to set sail definitively from Marina di Ravenna for the first stop of our Mediterranean cruise: Pula in Croatia!
