Giro in bici nelle campagne Romagnole.
Bike tour in the Romagna´s countryside.
Durante lo stesso giro ci siamo imbattuti nel casolare in cui è morta Anita Garibaldi. Questo è il monumento commemorativo.
During the same tour we came across the house where Garibaldi´s wife, Anita, died. Garibaldi was a central figure in the unification of Italy.

Durante delle commissioni a Ravenna abbiamo sbirciato nel piazzale di questa fabbrica di ancore e catene per navi. Da notare la scala rispetto alla macchina!
While running some errands in Ravenna, we had a peek in the yard of this factory. The car gives an idea of the size of the anchors and chains!
Un altro rientro in porto al tramonto dopo una dei nostri giorni passati all'ancora per sfuggire al caldo opprimente. Il porto di Ravenna ha anche un importante scalo commerciale con cui condividiamo l'entrata del porto, per cui capita di incontrare questi giganti.
Another return to port at sunset after one of our days spent at anchor to escape the heat wave. Ravenna´s harbour is also an important commercial hub, so we share the harbour entrance with these giants.
Finalmente il nostro tender è qui! Dopo averlo comprato usato a Milano da un signore con una storia interessante, durante il nostro viaggio di rientro in Italia, è rimasto a casa di mia mamma ed è sopravvissuto ad un paio di alluvioni. Finalmente abbiamo potuto noleggiare un furgone per andare a riprendercelo (in concomitanza dovevo fare le pratiche per la mia carta d'identità e dovevo aspettare l'ufficializzazione della mia nuova residenza). La particolarità è che è un barca rigida pieghevole: ha il vantaggio di essere molto resistente, ma allo stesso tempo leggera e occupare poco spazio una volta chiusa: diventa un pacchetto lungo e piatto (delle dimensioi di un SUP) e sta perfettamente legato alle draglie senza ostacolare il passaggio a prua.
Finally our dinghy is here! After we bought it in Milan, on our last trip from Innsbruck, from an interesting old chap, it stayed at my mum´s house where it survived a couple of floodings. Finally we could rent a van to pick it up (we had to wait so long because we wanted to finish some burocracy stuff in the same trip). It´s a rigid foldable boat and the cool thing about it is that it's very durable, lightweight and it takes little space when fold-up: it becomes a long flat package (the size of a SUP) and it sits nicely along the lifelines of our boat.
Primo test. Non abbiamo ancora un motore fuoribordo: stiamo aspettando una buona occasione di seconda mano. Nel frattempo andiamo a remi e abbiamo scoperto che in realtà ci piace: è un buon modo per fare un po' di sport ma è anche rilassante. Ogni tanto alla sera andiamo a fare una rematina per il porto a vedere altre barche fighe e cercando di affinare la nostra tecnica.
First test. We are looking for a second hand occasion so we don't have an outboard yet. In the meantime we use the oars: we actually found out that we enjoy rowing. It´s a good exercise, but at the same time relaxing. Some evenings we go for a row in the harbour to look at cool boats and improve our rowing technique.

Regalo del nostro vicino di pontile Maurizio, che nella sua uscita mattutina ha pescato questi sugarelli alla traina. Ci siamo preparati un ottimo pranzo di pesce.
Present from Maurizio, our pier's neighbour. He caught these fishes during his morning sailing: we had a lovely grilled fish for lunch!
Tutto pronto per installare un ammantiglio fisso in testa d'albero. L'ammantiglio serve a controllare l'altezza del boma: la nostra barca ne era sprovvista quindi ogni volta che dovevamo issare la randa ci ritrovavamo con il boma ad altezza spalla in pozzetto con conseguenti pericoli. L'ho realizzato in Dynema, una fibra sintetica che è più resistente dell'acciaio e utilizzato degli anelli a bassa frizione per realizzare un paranco 4:1. É stato divertente imparare a realizzare le impiombature, un modo di realizzare le asole invece di fare nodi che creerebbero un punto debole nella cima.
Everything ready to install a fixed topping lift at the top of our mast. The topping lift is that line that controls the height of the boom. We didn't have one before and every time we needed to raise our mainsail the boom got at shoulders height in the cockpit and this could be dangerous. I made it out of Dynema, an artificial fibre stronger than steel. I used some low friction rings to create a 4:1 purchase system. It was fun to learn how to splice ropes, in order to create the loops instead of using knots, which would create a weak point in the rope.
Appena finito di installare l'ammantiglio mentre mi approccio a scendere: pausa al livello del secondo ordine delle crocette per una foto. Melani è preposta a tirarmi su usando il winch e a controllare la discesa: sono nelle sue mani! Tutto quello che ho imparato arrampicando con il mio amico Javi quando ero nelle alpi continua a tornare utile.

Altro bel giro in bici, alla scoperta della foce del Bevano, anch'essa parte del complesso del parco del delta del Po. Si tratta di uno degli ultimi esempi di estuario meandriforme allo stato naturale in tutto l'alto Adriatico. Il parco include anche tutto un sistema di dune che a tratti presenta ancora la bassa vegetazione autoctona. Tutto quello che è pineta è in realtà opera dell'uomo che risale all'inizio dell'800. Qui nidificano moltissime specie di uccelli.
Another nice bike tour, exploring the mouth of the Bevano river. It's part of the natural reserve of the river Po. This is the last example of a meandering river mouth at it's natural state in the whole north Adriatic sea. The park includes a system of dunes with the original vegetation. Most part of the coast is now covered in pines which were man planted at the beginning of the 19th century. The park is home to many bird species.
